Waterford Valley High School and the Mary Brown’s Centre with the BMO High School Hockey League invite you to come out and support the second year of Hockey Hits Hunger.
January 18th high schools from across the region will come together at the Mary Brown’s Center to play hockey and collect donations for community food banks. Come out to watch a game to support your high school player or cheer on your old high school on the ice. Tickets are on sale now and all fans are asked to bring a non-perishable food item.
According to Food Banks Canada, food bank usage has doubled in the last five years. Food banks have reported that almost 30% of food banks ran out of food before demand was met in the last year and over half of them had to provide less food to avoid running out. January can be an especially difficult time for food banks following the busy holiday season.
Let’s work together to ensure those struggling with food insecurity have the nourishment they need. Get on your school colours and come cheer on high school kids helping to do good in their community!
Doors open at 9:00am via Gate 1.
Tickets per game are $5.00 at the door and $6.00 online, including taxes and fees.
